The wool version of J.Crew’s Odette Sweater Lady Jacket, which had been one of my favorite purchases last year, had sold extremely well, so it wasn’t surprising when J.Crew re-released the style in brightly-colored cotton-blend bouclé (62% cotton/37% polyamide/1% elastane) for spring. The cut had also been reimagined to be more cropped and tailored*, in anticipation of warm-weather dressing.
* But there’s no need to upsize; try your normal size in this style.
While the crochet trim and gold buttons continue to feel like nice touches, I though the hook-and-eye closure on the jackets were difficult to fasten–I had to forcefully bend nearly every hook to undo the jacket at first. And the mid-weight, loop-textured material, because it was majority cotton, also feels a little terrycloth-like.
Despite not being the biggest fan of the fabric, I ended up keeping the jacket as I liked the cheerful fuchsia. Like its earlier iteration, the style pairs easily with just about every skirt and pant type, and adds a bit of polish and fun to more muted outfits.
