Peregrine Clothing draws inspiration from Bristol for AW23 collection

With a heritage spanning over 225 years of manufacturing garments in the UK, Peregrine Clothing embodies the essence of British countryside influences and locally sourced fibers deeply ingrained in its identity. While its manufacturing base resides in Manchester, the British heritage brand turns its attention to its adopted city of Bristol for the AW23 collection. It is within the vibrant cultural landscape of Bristol in the South West that Creative Director Tom Glover and his design team find their muse, drawing inspiration for color and texture.

Bristol’s juxtaposition of urban living and proximity to nature demands a versatile wardrobe that effortlessly transitions between city and countryside settings. Peregrine’s collection epitomizes easy-to-wear, enduring, and understated style, with garments that are destined to become timeless staples.

At the heart of the Peregrine collection are its well-established British wool Hudson Aran jumpers and waffle crew styles. In the autumn of 2022, Peregrine announced its commitment to sourcing 100% of its British wool from regeneratively farmed flocks for this capsule collection by 2027. The brand is now in its second year of transitioning, with the pieces now incorporating 33% regeneratively sourced wool. The remainder is sourced through a longstanding ethical British Wool supply chain that ensures fair compensation for farmers.

The autumn-winter palette features failsafe neutrals, including navy, oatmeal, soft winter whites, and light and dark greys. These are complemented by muted brights such as deep terracotta ‘Orange,’ peacock blue ‘Teal,’ and burnt ochre ‘Honey.’ Peregrine’s expertise extends beyond knitwear to beautifully crafted outerwear. Standout pieces for AW23 include the hip-length Wool Lined Teddy Coat, inspired by vintage military ‘Deck’ styles, available in mustard and navy and crafted from Antique waxed cotton. The Teddy coat joins the existing waxed jacket range, including Bexley, Clifton, and Redland, each offering a unique take on the classic British waxed cotton jacket, known for its durability, lightweight, and waterproof qualities.

Peregrine adds a touch of playfulness to its mid-weight washed Merino wool crew styles, Dennis, Collins, and Buxton, with geometric color blocks and stripes. The result is uniquely soft and fluffy pieces that provide a comforting embrace when worn.

For those seeking versatile flannel shirts, Peregrine’s range offers contemporary interpretations of classic checks, injecting a fresh twist into winter wardrobes. For bolder style choices, Farley, Goadby, Workshop, and Spratton checks provide distinctive options. Peregrine’s Blake Overshirt, available in tactile corduroy or a subtly elevated dogtooth check, serves as a versatile wardrobe staple, perfect for transitional periods while staying on-trend.
